Estun HK IPO and Poland Factory: How China’s Biggest Robot Maker Went Global

Estun Automation is the largest Chinese industrial robot manufacturer by revenue, $680 million in 2025, with 34.2% coming from overseas sales. In March 2026, Estun completed a secondary listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, adding HK access to its existing Shenzhen A-share listing from 2015. The same year, Estun opened a manufacturing plant in Lodz, Poland, its first European production facility. Estun’s story is not the humanoid robot story dominating 2025-2026 headlines. It is the story of a traditional industrial robot manufacturer that scaled to global relevance through acquisition, localization, and production quality improvement over 15 years.

Estun’s Rise: From Drives to Full Robots

Estun was founded in 1993 as a servo drive manufacturer, making the motor control electronics used inside other companies’ robots and machines. It began manufacturing complete robot arms in 2012 and listed on Shenzhen in 2015. The path from component supplier to full robot manufacturer gave Estun deep insight into the performance requirements of industrial applications that pure robot manufacturers lack. A company that sells servo drives knows exactly where the motors fail, where the controllers lag, and what customers actually need from motion control. This knowledge advantage drove Estun’s rapid quality improvement from 2012 to 2020.

In 2017, Estun acquired M.A.I. (Austria), a European robot integration company, and Cloos (Germany, 2019), one of the world’s leading robotic welding system manufacturers. The Cloos acquisition gave Estun a premium European brand with 100+ years of welding expertise and an installed base of tens of thousands of welding robots in European automotive plants. Rather than trying to sell Chinese cobots into skeptical European markets, Estun bought a company that European automotive customers already trusted.

Revenue and Financial Profile

2025 revenue: approximately $680 million. Revenue breakdown: industrial robots and systems 65%, servo drives and motion control 25%, overseas (Cloos-branded, M.A.I.-integrated) 34.2% of total. For comparison, the largest global industrial robot manufacturers, FANUC, KUKA, ABB, each post $1-4 billion in robotics revenue. Estun at $680M is not yet in that tier but is closing the gap faster than any other Chinese manufacturer. 2024 revenue was approximately $570M, implying ~19% growth year-over-year. Operating margin: approximately 8-12% (typical for industrial robot manufacturers at this scale).

Lodz, Poland Manufacturing Plant

The Lodz plant, opened in 2026, manufactures Cloos welding robot systems for European customers. Poland was chosen for: proximity to major European automotive clusters (German, Czech, Slovak), EU single market access without import tariffs on intra-EU goods, lower labor and facility costs than Germany, and Polish government incentives for foreign manufacturing investment. The Lodz plant’s primary customers are European automotive tier-1 suppliers and OEMs, the same customers served by Cloos’s German facilities. By manufacturing in the EU, Estun-Cloos avoids anti-dumping tariffs on Chinese robot imports that the European Commission began investigating in 2024.

HK Secondary Listing

Estun’s March 2026 HK secondary listing raises capital in HK dollars and provides access to international institutional investors who cannot or do not invest in Shenzhen-listed A-shares. The secondary listing does not replace the A-share listing, Estun remains on Shenzhen Stock Exchange. HK listing proceeds are allocated to: European manufacturing expansion (Poland plant phase 2), humanoid robot R&D (Estun entered the humanoid segment in late 2025 with a prototype), and working capital for international growth. The humanoid R&D allocation signals that Estun intends to apply its servo drive and motion control expertise to humanoid actuators, a natural extension given that its drives are already used in several Chinese humanoid robots.

Humanoid Component Supply

Estun’s servo drives and joint actuators are components in several Chinese humanoid robots. As humanoid production scales, Estun’s motion control technology becomes embedded infrastructure for the humanoid boom, similar to how Nvidia’s GPUs are infrastructure for AI. Estun does not disclose which humanoid companies use its components, but industry sources confirm its drives in at least three commercial humanoid platforms. This component supply position provides revenue diversification: Estun profits from humanoid growth regardless of which specific humanoid company wins market share.
