UBTECH has been building humanoid robots since 2012, longer than any other Chinese company currently on the market. Walker S2, which entered mass production in November 2025 with orders exceeding 800 million yuan ($112 million), is the product of 13 years of iteration. But the hardware is not what makes Walker S2 commercially distinctive. It is BrainNet, UBTECH’s proprietary AI platform, and Co-Agent, the multi-robot coordination system built on top of it, that define what Walker S2 can actually do at industrial scale.
BrainNet: The Deployment Operating System
BrainNet covers four layers: perception (processing cameras, LiDAR, and force/torque sensors into a structured world model), cognition (task planning and decision-making), action (translating plans to motor commands), and learning (continuous improvement from deployment experience). UBTECH positions BrainNet as a “deployment operating system”, the platform on which applications are built, not an application itself. The core capability is rapid scenario deployment: configuring Walker S2 for a new industrial task in hours rather than weeks. BrainNet includes approximately 200 pre-built task modules (grasp from bin, move to location, insert component, quality check, place in fixture) configurable without writing controller code.
Co-Agent: Fleet-Level Coordination
Walker S2 is the world’s first industrial humanoid integrated with Co-Agent, UBTECH’s multi-robot coordination system. When a factory deploys 20 Walker S2 units, Co-Agent manages task allocation, traffic management, load balancing, and escalation handling. From the MES perspective, the entire fleet appears as a single work center with a task queue. Co-Agent handles all internal fleet management invisibly, significantly reducing MES integration complexity for multi-robot deployments. Integration interfaces: OPC-UA and MQTT, the same protocols as the individual robot interface.
Siemens Partnership
In 2026, UBTECH announced a strategic partnership with Siemens covering digital twin integration and manufacturing scale-up. Siemens Teamcenter PLM manages Walker S2 design and manufacturing documentation, enabling complete lifecycle documentation of each unit, traceable component history, maintenance records, predictive maintenance data via Siemens MindSphere. On manufacturing: the partnership targets 10,000 units per year capacity by 2027 with Siemens providing production line engineering expertise. This is a production engineering transfer, not a branding collaboration.
Airbus Deployment
In 2026, Airbus signed an agreement to purchase Walker S2 units for aircraft assembly. Aircraft assembly is among the most demanding manufacturing environments: AS9100 quality management, zero-tolerance FOD prevention, millimeter-level tolerances on flight structures. The Airbus agreement validates Walker S2 at a quality bar that almost no industrial robot has been held to. If Walker S2 can operate in Airbus assembly, it can operate in virtually any industrial environment.
Walker S2 Specifications
Height 180 cm, weight 70 kg, 41 DOF. Payload 5 kg per hand. Walking speed 1.5 m/s max. Force control resolution 0.5 N at wrist. Sensors: stereo RGB-D cameras, wrist cameras, 6-axis IMU, joint torque sensing on all arm joints. Compute: NVIDIA Orin AGX plus dedicated AI module. Battery 2.5 hours per charge, hot-swap available. IP54 protection. Communication: OPC-UA, MQTT, REST, WiFi 6.
Production Numbers
Mass production began November 2025. First batch target: 500 units by end of 2025. 2026 capacity target: 5,000 units/year. 2027: 10,000 units/year. Orders of 800M yuan ($112M) represent 700-900 units at average enterprise pricing, filling first-year capacity multiple times, indicating backlog rather than demand constraint.
